The Executive Vice Chancellor of Venda University in South Africa visited our university

On the morning of August 26, Robert Martin, Executive Vice Chancellor of Venda University of South Africa, and Wang Yuchen, Director of South Africa-China Transportation Cooperation Center (SACTCC) and President of South Africa China Science and Technology Association (SETEA), visited our university. Vice President Fan Wen met with the visitors at the Service Hall of Teachers and Students of Weishui Campus. The meeting was chaired by Du Yiqun, deputy director of the Office of International Affairs.

Vice President Fan Wen first extended a warm welcome to Executive Vice President Robert Martin and Director Wang Yuchen. He gave a brief introduction to the history of the university, discipline construction, scientific research achievements and the characteristics of international education. He said that this visit is an important step in the establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between our university and the University of Venda in South Africa, and hopes to take this exchange as an opportunity to promote substantive cooperation between the two universities in scientific research cooperation, cultural exchanges, and mutual visits between teachers and students.

Subsequently, Executive Vice Chancellor Robert Martin introduced the basic information of Venda University in South Africa. He said that Chang'an University has strength in highway transportation, land resources, urban and rural construction, and South Africa Venda University has unique characteristics and achievements in green technology, humanities, poverty alleviation and development, etc., and the two universities have broad space for cooperation. In the future, it is hoped that the two sides will actively explore the field of cooperation and exchange and establish a stable and long-term cooperative relationship.

President Wang Yuchen introduced the current cooperation in higher education between China and South Africa. In recent years, the two sides have carried out all-round cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road education initiative, and have achieved fruitful results. The exchange between Chang'an University and Venda University of South Africa is of great significance for the future practical cooperation between the two sides and achieving substantive results.

At the meeting, the heads of relevant schools also made interactive interventions, and conducted constructive exchanges with visitors on topics such as International Student Education, Confucius Institute, 2025 South Africa Transport Conference and Rural Revitalization and Poverty Alleviation, and reached a broad consensus.

The relevant leaders in charge of the School of International Education, the School of Highway and the School of Transportation Engineering attended the meeting.
