Vice President of Brunel University Trevor Hoey with the Delegation Visited Chang’an University

On April 11, a delegation of four from Brunel University in the UK, led by its vice president Trevor Hoey, paid a visit to Chang’an University at its invitation. Vice president of Chang’an University Fan Wen met with the delegation in the VIP hall of the Northern Main Campus, accompanied by the heads of the Office of the International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Geological Engineering and Geomatics.

At the meeting, Fan Wen extended a warm welcome to Trevor Hoey and the delegation and briefly introduced the university’s history, scale of operation, academic characteristics, and talent cultivation. He highlighted the university’s efforts in promoting international exchanges and cooperation based on its disciplinary advantages. He pointed out that Chang’an University has continuously leveraged its academic strengths to cultivate a large number of high-level engineering and technical management talents for the infrastructure construction industry. He also noted that the university’s alumni and research teams have been deeply involved in major infrastructure construction projects and have played important roles. He expressed the consistent willingness of Chang’an University to commit to its internationalization, and emphasized the importance of communication and collaboration with internationally renowned universities, such as Brunel University. He hoped that the visit of Trevor Hoey and his delegation would serve as an opportunity to actively explore comprehensive and extensive cooperation between Chang’an University and Brunel University.

Trevor Hoey, vice president of Brunel University, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and appreciation for Chang’an University’s outstanding contributions to infrastructure construction. He also expressed agreement with Fan Wen’s cooperation proposal and briefly introduced the basic situation of Brunel University. He stated that Chang’an University is a high-level university with distinct academic characteristics, strong academic strength, and outstanding social services. He, on behalf of the Brunel Univeristy, expressed the perfect willingness to carry out multi-level student joint training and teacher cooperation in scientific research with Chang’an University, such as joint application of international scientific and technological cooperation projects and other substantive cooperation in the field of geological engineering and surveying. And he also conveyed the hope to forge a closer cooperative relationship with Chang’an University through interactions in relevant key areas between the two universities.

After the meeting, both parties proceeded to the 7th Meeting Room of Beichen Building for further discussion on cooperative education and collaborative research, and they finally reached a broad consensus on these matters. After the discussion, the delegation, accompanied by the heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Geological Engineering and Geomatics, visited the History Museum of Chang’an University and Chang’an Dublin International Transportation College.
