On the afternoon of May 21, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of Chongqing University, and Honorary Professor Tamura Yukio of the Tokyo University of Technology, Japan, were invited to visit our school. The school party secretary Chen Feng and the president Sha Aimin met with the visitors in the VIP room of the Academic Exchange Center. The heads of the Science and Technology Department, the High-level Talent Office, the International Office, and the Highway College accompanied the meeting.

Professor Yukio Tamurais an internationally renowned expert in wind engineering. He is mainly engaged in the research of wind engineering, and his research in the establishment and promotion of wind-resistant design methods is at the international advanced level. He is currently the chairman of the International Organization of Strong Wind-related Disaster Prevention, the foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, the foreign academician of the Indian Academy of Engineering, the academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and the expert of the Chinese Academy of Foreign Experts. He has long-term scientific research cooperation and exchanges with relevant disciplines of our school.
Secretary Chen Fengmeets with Professor Yukio Tamura
During the meeting, Secretary Chen Feng welcomed Professor Yukio Tamura. He briefed the gueston the basic situation of the school and highlighted the important role and achievements of the school in the field of major infrastructure construction by leveraging the characteristics of the discipline and closely integrating the major local strategies and industry needs. He pointed out that Professor Yukio Tamura is a leading scholar in the field of international wind engineering research. He is rigorous in academic study and pursuing excellence and has made brilliant achievements in the field of research. Secretary Chen Feng happily reviewed the experience of knowing and cooperating with Professor Yukio Tamura and hoped to take this visit of Professor Yukio Tamura as an opportunity to accelerate the cooperation research between the two sides in the field of wind engineering, learn from each other's strengths, seek common development, and start a new chapter in a win-win situation.
President Sha Aimin introduced the academic research of the school in the field of wind engineering. He pointed out that since Professor Yukio Tamura was hired as an adjunct professor in our school in 2010, he has carried out extensive cooperation with relevant research teams of our school and achieved remarkable results, especially for the construction and development of our wind tunnel laboratory. He said that the key research areas of the two sides are similar and the cooperation foundation is solid. President Sha Aimin hoped that through the cooperation with Professor Yukio Tamura, we could promote cooperation and exchanges between the research teams of two or more parties and establish a long-term and stable cooperation mechanism to lay a solid foundation for the two sides to carry out wide-ranging and in-depth cooperation.
Professor Yukio Tamura expressed his sincere gratitude to the warm reception of our school and expressed appreciation for the outstanding contribution made by our school in the field of infrastructure construction and local economic and social development. He briefly introduced his work experience, research fields and the basic situation of cooperation and exchange with Chinese university research teams. He pointed out that Chang'an University is located in Xi'an, a world-famous cultural city. It is a high-level university with profound connotations, distinctive features and outstanding academic advantages. The strength of research teams is strong. The research level in the field of wind engineering has been at the forefront of the world, and he is very willing to strengthen the cooperation between the two sides. Professor Yukio Tamura is currently a member of several internationally renowned journal editors such as International Wind Engineering and Aerodynamics, Progress in Structural Engineering, and Wind and Structure. He is the project manager of Japan COE (2003-2007) program, Global COE project, and many others. He has published more than 300 high-level academic papers and nearly 40 monographs. He received more than 10international and Japanese domestic awards, such as the 2017 Chinese Government Friendship Award, the International Wind Engineering Society Alan G. Davenport Award, the Robert H. Scanlan Award, the Japan Wind Engineering Society Outstanding Contribution Award, the Japan Wind Engineering Society Wind Resistance Design Award, the Japan Wind Engineering Society Publishing Award, USA The Civil Engineers Society Jack E.Cermak Award, the Japan Architecture Society Award, the Waseda University Tachu-Natio
