On the morning of November 7, 2018, Prof. Vernon R. Schaefer, Head of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Iowa State University, USA, was invited to visit our school. Sha Aimin, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the school, met with visitors and high-level talents in the VIP room of the Academic Exchange Center. The relevant officials of the Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office and Highway College accompanied the meeting.
Deputy Secretary Sha Aimin welcomed Prof. Vernon R. Schaefer's visit. He briefly introduced the school's development history, school scale, subject characteristics, personnel training and international exchanges, and highlighted the school's role in promoting the country. The major tasks and outstanding contributions made in the infrastructure construction process. He pointed out that the school has always been committed to promoting the international development strategy, and is very happy to work with internationally renowned universities such as Iowa State University to learn from each other and seek common development. He hopes that with the visit of Professor Vernon R. Schaefer as an opportunity, he will continue to deepen the friendly and cooperative relations between the two sides and strive to push the cooperation between the two sides to more fields and higher levels.
Prof. Vernon R. Schaefer expressed sincere gratitude to the warm reception of our school, expressed appreciation for the outstanding contribution of our school in the field of national infrastructure construction, and briefly introduced the basic situation of Iowa State University. He pointed out that Iowa State University is a unique university in the field of engineering in the United States, and has many similarities with our school in the field of disciplines. After the meeting, Professor Vernon R. Schaefer and his team went to the Highway College for academic report and went to the Lishui Campus to visit the relevant laboratories.
