Professor Zhang Yu, Chairman of COTA, visited Chang’an University

On July 18^th 2017, Professor Zhang Yu from University of South Florida, chairman of Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA), visited Chang’an University. President Chen Feng, Vice President Zhao Junhai and Vice President Zhao Xiangmo had a meeting with Professor Zhangyu at the Guest Hall, accompanied by the chief directors of President Office, Development Research Center, Dean’s Office, Personnel Department, International Cooperation Office and School of Automobile. 

President Chen Feng welcomed the visit of Professor Zhang Yu and congratulated on hr achievements. President Chen Feng introduced the development of talent nurturing, scientific research and international cooperation in traffic discipline, and he emphatically introduced the strategy to adapt to the requirements of international traffic area development. He hoped that through this visit, Professor Zhang Yu could deepen the understanding of Chang’an University and put up precious suggestions to the university’s development, establish various kinds of collaboration, and deepen the understanding and communication with COTA, promoting the participation and publicity of Chang’an university in international traffic area.

Professor Zhang Yu extended gratitude to the warm reception and strong support for COTA, and expressed compliments to the development perspective and integrated strategy put forward by President Chen Feng. She said that COTA has been established for more than 20 years, and it has been devoted to strengthening the academic exchange at home and abroad, and keeps paying attention to the development of Chinese traffic and actively build platforms for professionals in traffic area to communicate and share information. She said that Chnag’an University is a prestigious university in traffic area in China and owns great influence in traffic area. COTA has built up excellent cooperation foundation with Chang’an University, and she hoped that both sides could deepen understanding and strengthening collaboration.

During the visit, Professor Zhang Yu had a meeting with the faculty members from School of Automobile, and put up distinctive opinions on discipline development and student internationalization.

Ms. Zhang Yu, professor of University of South Florida, got her Bachelor Degree at Southeast University, Master Degree and Doctor Degree at University of California, Berkeley. She is the chairman of COTA and editorial board member and reviewer of several SCI and SSCI journals. Her main research is traffic transportation system modeling and analysis, aero transportation management and airport location selection, and traffic safety.

Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) is a non-profit professional organization, whose former body was North American Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (NACOTA), which was founded in Jan, 1996 and aimed at promoting the communication among the researchers in traffic field worldwide.
