Professor Gao Huaizhu from Cornel University visited Chang’an University

On the invitation of “Vehicle- Road Information Sensing and Intelligent Transportation Innovation Project”, Professor Gao Huaizhu form Cornel University, Professor Wei Heng from University of Cincinnati, and Associate Professor Du Lili from University of Florida visited Chang’an University. On July 12th, President Chen Feng and Vice President Zhao Xiangmo had a meeting with Professor Gao Huaizhua and the delegation, accompanied by the chief directors of School of Information, International Cooperation Office , Development Research Center and Periodical Office.

President Chen Fend welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction to Chang’an University form the aspects of university history, education scale, discipline features and talent nurturing. He gave a  detailed introduction to the university’s research development of transportation area in recent years and the short-term and long-term development strategy of the transportation engineering first class discipline. He said that transportation engineering of Chang’an University has a deep effect at home and abroad, and also has great cooperation space with Cornel University, University of Cincinnati and University of Florida, and he hoped that the three visiting professors and experts in related areas could give Chang’an University more guidance and help in scientific research and talent nurturing.

The three visiting professors extended gratitude to the warm welcome and gave a brief introduction to the Overseas Chinese Transportation Association and the research achievements of each research team. They showed agreements to the ideas put forward by President Chen Feng and hoped that both sides could broaden cooperation area, innovate cooperation methods based on the existing cooperation foundation, and work together to promote and establish deep and long-term collaboration and overseas counseling relation.

During the visit, Professor Wei Heng gave a serial of lectures: Traffic Flow Theory, Traffic Signal Phase Timing Designing Basis, Practical Experiences and Issues of Traffic Signal Control and ITS Technology, Dynamic Traffic Signal Phase Timing Design Basis, etc. Professor Gao Huaizhu gave a lecture named Cornell University Center for Transportation，Environment, and Community Health, the lectured was hosted by Professor Duan Zongtao, Associate Dean of Information School. Faculty members and postgraduates of Information School attended the lecture and had a deep discussion.

Mr. Gao Huaizhu, professor of Civil Engineering and Environment Engineering Department of Cornel University, director of the Traffic Research Center, chief editor of Transportation Research Part D：Transport and Environment, committee member of Traffic Transportation and Atmosphere Pollution Branch Committee of American Traffic Transportation research Committee. His mainly researches in sustainable and high intelligent city infrastructure and life line engineering system analysis, low carbon and low pollution traffic system, and he has published more than 50 SCI papers on international prestigious academic journals.

Mr. Wei Heng, Professor in civil engineering and construction management department of University of Cincinnati, director of  traffic engineering and system research center, former chairman of Chinese Overseas Traffic Association. He mainly researches in micro traffic flow vehicle driving method data accumulation, signal control dynamic feature sensing, city major road emergency traffic evacuation web planning and traveling carbon discharge analysis. He has got a number of fund form American Natural Scientific Fund, American Federal Highway       Bureau, and has published about 180 academic papers and 9 academic works.

Du Lili, associate professor of University of Florida. She got her Bachelor, Master, PhD and post doctor respectively from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Qinghua University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Purdue University. She got National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2016 through the research achievements in auto-driving vehicle. She mainly researches in traffic system analysis and web modeling, vehicle net work and auto-driving vehicle, true time traffic sensing an data integration. She has published more than 20 papers on Transportation Research Part B: Methodological, Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies, and IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, and hosts 2 American National Natural Scientific Fund projects.
