From October 27thto 30th, 2016, co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Transport Expert Committee and the United States Federal Highway Agency, By the China Communications Highway Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., Chang' an University, the first Highway Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. jointly hosted the 13thChina-US Bridge Technology Symposium was held in Chang’ an University.
On the morning of October 28th, the opening ceremony of conference was held at the Academic Exchange Center of Chang’ an University, Zhou Haitao, Chairman of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Transport, chaired the meeting and President Ma Jian delivered his opening speech. The director of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Ministry of Transport, Xing Fansheng, deputy researcher Zhang Huiyu of Highway Office of Ministry of Transport, the secretary Chen Shuxue of Expert Committee of the Ministry of Transport, Vice President of Chang’ an University Sha Aimin and more than 40 participants attended the Opening Ceremony.
On the 28thand 29thof the Symposium, Academician Deng Wenzhong, the Chairman of the Lin Tongzhi International, Deputy Chief Engineer Li Na of China National Highway Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd .; Dr. Phillip Yen, the US Executive Chairman of US Federal Highway Department, Prof. Chen Airong from Tongji University and 22 domestic and foreign scholars and representatives expanded a lively discussion around the theme of "China-US Bridge Symposium on Long-term Performance of Bridges, Multi-hazard Resistant Technology of Bridges, Rapid Construction Technology and Specifications of Bridges".
On the 30th, US and Chinese representatives visited Chang'an University and China First Highway Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. jointly designed and built the first time in China Meixian Bawang River and the Dry Gap River concrete tied arch bridge with Q500qD construction, and the first domestic free coating weathering steel flange composite beam bridge - Meixian Changxing II Bridge.
