On April 5, 2016, Professor Jean Andrey, the Dean of College of Environmental Sciences of University of Waterloo in Canada and the delegation visited Chang’an University on invitation. Vice president Zhao Junhai had a meeting with the visiting guests in the Guest Hall of Academic Exchanging Center, accompanied by directors of the International Office, School of Geoscience and Land Resources and School of Environmental Engineering.
Vice president Zhao Junhai expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of Professor Jean Andrey and gave a brief introduction to the university from the aspects of the education scale, the history and the characteristic of the subjects. He especially reviewed the cooperation between Chang’an University and the University of Waterloo in Canada. He pointed out that Chang’an University and the University of Waterloo has conducted in-depth collaboration in research, students joint training and other aspects, and hoped that cooperation in resources and environment-related disciplines could be expanded through Professor Jean Andrey's visit, and thus to promote cooperation and exchanges between the two universities to a deeper level.
Professor Jean Andrey showed sincere gratitude toward the warm reception, and agreed with Vice President Zhao Junhai on the idea of cooperation projects. She outlined the basic situation of subject characteristics and teaching faculty scale of College of Environmental Sciences of University of Waterloo. She mentioned that the two universities have already had a good basis for cooperation, and this visit is aimed to furtherly promote bilateral cooperation in relevant disciplines such as environmental resources, and especially to promote bilateral substantive cooperation, such as a dual-degree undergraduate joint training and joint laboratories building.
After the meeting, Professor Jean Andrey and directors of the International Office, School of Geoscience and Land Resources and School of Environmental Engineering had a detailed discussion about the cooperation and reached broad consensus.
