On the afternoon of Sep. 27th, 2015, Professor Ken Howard, President of International Association of Hydrogeologists, professor of University of Toronto in Canada, visited Chang’an University as invited. Professor Zhao Junhai, vice-president of Chang’an university had a meeting with the guest in guest hall of Academic Communication Center. Professor Li Peicheng, the academician, director of International Cooperation Office attended the meeting.
Vice-president Zhao Junhai gave a warm welcome to Professor Ken Howard’s visiting, and he briefly introduced the basic condition Chang’an University from the aspects of history and development, university scale, special features of subjects, and academic researching level. The development of geological engineering was paid a great importance in the introduction. Vice President Zhao Junhai hoped that with this opportunity of Ken Howard’s visiting, the mutual communication of teachers, the actual cooperation in the field of scientific research can get promoted in order to reach the mutual cooperation in all aspects through the continual expending the communication and cooperation in major fields
Professor Ken Howard expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and spoke highly of the expectation of strengthening mutual cooperation put forward by Vice-president Zhao Junhai. And he reviewed the fruitful accomplishments in teachers’ mutual visit and history of cooperation in scientific research. He hopes during the consolidation and development of cooperation in major fields, the novel cooperation methods should be explored, more cooperation common views should be made to activate the cooperation other new fields and to build a better cooperation relationship in all aspects and in different levels.
After the meeting, Professor Ken Howard gave three lectures: “Understanding Global Geoscience as the Key to Climate Change Mitigation”、“IAH and the Early Career Hydrogeologist” and“Sustainable Management of Transboundary Aquifers: with Special Relevance to Central Asia”.
