Alex Visser, Academician in South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE) visited Chang' an

On September 17, 2015, Alex Visser, Academician in the South African Academy of Engineering (SAAE) and fellow senior professor in the University of Pretoria visited Chang' an University for academic exchange, and met with Vice President Zhao Junhai in Guest Hall of Academic Exchange Center.

 

 Vice President Zhao Junhai warmly welcomed Academician Alex Visser and his delegation, and hoped this visit would be an opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding, broaden areas of cooperation, deepen exchanges level, and promote comprehensive cooperation in many fields.

 

 

 Academician Alex Visser expressed thanks to the warm reception and highly endorsed the cooperation proposal. He hoped that through this visit, both of the universities can seek a win-win situation, with the link of roads, bridges and transportation and can strengthen multilevel as well as multidomain interaction.

 

After the meeting, Alex Visser made an academic report entitled "Novel South African Pavement Design" in the School of Highway. The report, from the aspect of South African road's basic situation and common diseases, easily analyzed the mechanism of disease occurrence, and proposed mitigation methods to address these diseases. He also gave a comprehensive elaboration on the special design of the new pavement structure and materials in South Africa. The presence of personnel praised him a lot. In the discussion session, Alex Visser and representatives from the School of highway Research widely discussed the disciplines on roads, bridge and other fields.
