Chairman Du Xiangmin Paid Visits to Three Universities in Korea and America

From July 13thto July 20th, 2014, Chairman Du Xiangmin paid visits to Ajou University in Korea, University of Texas at San Antonio and Temple University in America on invitation from the presidents of the three universities. Directors of Organization Department, International Cooperation Office and relevant departments accompanied the visit.

Vice president Byoung-Kwan Kim of Ajou University warmly welcomed the visit of the delegation from Chang’an University and gave a brief introduction of Ajou University. He hoped that Ajou University and Chang’an University could build an all-round cooperation. Chairman Du Xiangmin thanked for the hospitality of Ajou University and gave a brief introduction of Chang’an University. Both partied exchanged the opinions about joint nurturing of students, visits of faculty, cooperation in research and information sharing, and reached a broad agreement. After the meeting, the comprehensive cooperation agreements were signed. During the visit, the delegation had a tour of the campus, library, student dining hall and some laboratories. Director of International Cooperation Department and coordinator of the program of Ajou University attended the meeting and the ceremony of exchanging agreements between Chang’an University and Ajou University.

Provost John Frederick from University of Texas at San Antonio had a meeting with the delegation. He warmly welcomed the visit, briefly introducing University of Texas at San Antonio, and expressed the intention of building all-round collaboration with Chang’an University. Chairman Du Xiangmin thanked for the hospitality, and had a deep discussion with Provost John Frederick about the substantial cooperation and exchange between the two universities. After the meeting, the comprehensive cooperation agreements were signed. Director of International Liaison Office and deputy dean of Confucius Institute of University of Texas at San Antonio attended the meeting and the ceremony of exchanging agreements between Chang’an University and University of Texas at San Antonio.

 

Vice president Charies Crance from Temple University had a meeting with the delegation and gave a warm welcome. President Assistant Brooke H. Walker gave a brief introduction of Temple University. Vice President Michele Masucci introduced the research achievements. Chairman Du Xiangmin thanked for the hospitality of Temple University. Both partied had a deep discussion about the joint nurturing of students, academic visits, collaboration in research and information sharing, and reached a broad agreement. Both parties considered that the programs setting are similar between two universities and this has built a solid foundation for cooperation and the cooperation will surely improve the development of both universities. The comprehensive cooperation agreements between Chang’an University and Temple University could be signed as soon as possible. Professor Jongmoo Jay Choi from Business School of Temple University who is also an honored professor of Chang’an University, director of International Program, director of Chinese Program of Temple University and Korean Professor Zhang Zhongxue of Chang’an University accompanied the visit.

During the visit, the delegation also paid visits to American Georgetown University, University of  Pennsylvania and Princeton University.

 

Ajou Universiy was founded in the year 1973, located in Gyeonggi suwon city of Korea and ranks among the top ten universities of Korea. The number of students amounts to 14,000 and 3,500 are postgraduate students. The distinctive majors are Business Administration, Information Technology Engineering, Financial Engineering, etc.

 

University of Texas at San Antonio was founded in the year 1969, located in the city of San Antonio in south Texas. The number of students is 28,500 and it ranks the second in the system of University of Texas. University of Texas at San Antonio dedicates to developing into a comprehensive research university. Its School of Business is among the top forty Business Schools in the United States.

 

Temple University was founded in the year 1884 and is a comprehensive research university. It has been among the top 100 universities in America these years. With a number of students of 39,000, it is the 27thhigher educational institute in America. Mr. Deng Xiaoping was awarded with the honored doctor in laws by Temple University in 1979.
