2. Faculty Team
The Department of Physical Education has 71 full-time faculty members, including:
· 2 professors and 44 associate professors;
· 5 master’s supervisors, 5 PhD holders, and 7 on-the-job doctoral candidates;
· 1 International Master of Sports and recipient of the National Sports Honor Medal, 3 National Masters of Sports, and 1 National-level Social Sports Instructor;
· 7 International and National-level Referees;
· 2 faculty members who participated in the campus football exchange programs in France and the UK organized by the Ministry of Education;
· and 2 first-prize winners of the Shaanxi Provincial University Physical Education Teachers’ Teaching Skills Competition.
One faculty member was appointed as a member of the first National University Health Education Teaching Guidance Committee. Many faculty members hold positions in academic and professional organizations, such as Vice Chairman, Deputy Secretary-General, Vice President, Standing Director, or Director of Specialized Committees, in bodies including Sports Specialized Committee of the China Association of Higher Education, Sports Association of Comprehensive Universities Directly under the Ministry of Education, the Cycling, Rock Climbing, Track and Field, Football, and Aerobics/Rhythmic Gymnastics Divisions of Federation of University Sports of China, as well as the Shaanxi Basketball Association, Shaanxi Student Sports Association, Shaanxi Sports Science Society, and Shaanxi Sports Reform and Development Research Association.
Faculty members have led or participated in over 20 provincial and ministerial-level research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, General Administration of Sport of China, and Shaanxi Province. More than 40 faculty members have attended international and national sports conferences such as the Olympic Science Congress, World Sports Management Congress, and National Sports Science Congress. Faculty have published over 30 papers indexed in SCI, CSSCI, and EI.
3. Talent Development
Since commencing enrollment in 2004, the department has cultivated over 300 specialized professionals, with 114 current students. In recent years, the graduate employment and further education rates have consistently ranked among the top of all undergraduate programs in the university. In 2013 and 2014, the program was successively awarded the titles of “National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports” and “National Vocational Qualification Training Base for the Sports Industry” by the General Administration of Sport of China.
4. Facilities
The university is equipped with comprehensive sports facilities:
· South Campus: 2 synthetic athletics fields, a 3,000-seat gymnasium, and a standard swimming pool;
· North Campus: 2 standard synthetic athletics fields, a 3-storey indoor-outdoor sports complex (approximately 10,000m²), and a swimming hall (about 3,000m²). Across both campuses, there are over 200 sports venues and facilities including basketball courts, volleyball courts, ping-pong tables, badminton courts, tennis courts, and fitness centers, covering a total area of nearly 140,000m² (with a net usable area of approximately 100,000m²). The abundant sports venue resource provides high-quality services for teaching, learning and fitness activities for both faculty and students.
The Sports Science Laboratory primarily undertakes experimental teaching tasks for courses including Exercise Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, and Sports Health Science. It also provides training, competition, and research support for the university's sports teams. It comprises three specialized laboratories: Sports Anatomy, Sports Physiology, and Sports Psychology. Current equipment includes bone density analyzers, body composition analyzers, cardiopulmonary function testers, bicycle ergometers, handheld blood lactate meters, CPR manikins, and complete sets of instruments for student physical fitness assessments and national fitness testing.
