Introduction

The School of Civil Engineering of Chang'an University was merged and established in December 2000, based on the former Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Management Engineering, and part of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Northwest Institute of Architectural Engineering, as well as part of the Department of Architecture and Environmental

Engineering from the former Xi'an Highway University and part of the Department of Geological Engineering from Xi'an Engineering University. The core majors of the school were founded in the early 1950s, with a history of 72 years in professional education, and it has cultivated more than 30,000 graduates for the country.

Organizational Structure

The school has 7 grass-roots teaching units, namely:

- Department of Architectural Engineering

- Department of Intelligent Construction

- Department of Underground Engineering

- Department of Engineering Cost Estimation‌

- Department of Municipal Engineering

- Department of Built Environment and Energy Engineering

- Department of Engineering Mechanics

And 3 laboratories, including:

- Laboratory of Building Structure and Seismic Resistance

- Civil Engineering Laboratory

- Municipal and HVAC Experimental Center

Discipline and Program Development

The school holds the right to confer doctoral degrees in the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering, the right to confer professional doctoral degrees in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering (led the application and was approved in 2024), and has a Postdoctoral Research Station in Civil Engineering. The School of Civil Engineering takes the lead in constructing the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering, and is responsible for the construction of the following second-level disciplines:

- Structural Engineering (081402)

- Municipal Engineering (081403)

- Heating, Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering (081404)

- Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering and Protective Engineering (081405)

Currently, the school has 3 undergraduate enrollment programs, all of which have been selected as National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites:

- Civil Engineering

- Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering

- Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering

Scientific Research

The school emphasizes strengthening organized scientific research and has established disciplinary research teams. The amount of received research funds has achieved the doubling plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with a total of 110 million yuan in received research funds accumulated in the past five years.
