Professor Tarek Sayed, Member of The Canadian Academy of Engineering, Visited CHD

On the morning of July 10, Professor Tarek Sayed, a member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, was invited to visit our university. Vice President Zhao Xiangmo met with the visitors in the VIP room of the Academic Exchange Center. The heads of the International Office and the Highway College accompanied the meeting.

 

The Meeting

 

Vice President Zhao Xiangmo welcomed the first visit of Academician Tarek Sayed. He briefed Academician Tarek Sayed on the basic situation of the university and highlighted the international cooperation and exchanges of the university in the field of transportation. He pointed out that the university has been committed to international development for many years, constantly exerting its academic characteristics, and cultivating a large number of high-level engineering and technical personnel for the transportation field. The university research team has deeply participated in many major engineering construction projects in the field of infrastructure construction in the country and played An important role. He said that Academician Tarek Sayed is an internationally renowned and well-known expert in the field of traffic safety. His academic achievements are profound and he has achieved outstanding achievements in the industry. He hopes that the visit of Academician Tarek Sayed will take the opportunity to further promote the two sides in more fields and higher levels. Academician Tarek Sayed expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and expressed his appreciation for the outstanding contribution made by the university in the field of infrastructure construction. He strongly endorsed the work plan for promoting the development of the subject area through internationalization. He briefly introduced the basic situation of his work experience, research field and international academic cooperation and exchange. He pointed out that Chang'an University's development concept in the field of transportation is broad, the research foundation is thick, and the achievements are commendable. He said that he is very willing to carry out in-depth exchanges with relevant research teams of our university to jointly promote cooperation and exchanges between the two sides in personnel training, scientific research and other related fields, and strive to push cooperation to a higher level.

After the meeting, Academician Tared Sayed gave an academic report entitled "New Advances in Transportation Safety Research" and conducted in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions with the teachers and students.

Tared Sayed is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Engineering, a Fellow of the Canadian Civil Engineering Association, a member of the Editorial Board of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, and a professor at the University of British Columbia in Canada. He published 250 high-level academic papers. He received awards from the Canadian Transportation Association's Centennial Road Safety Award, the ITE Wilbur Smith Distinguished Transportation Educator Award, and the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering Sanford Fleming Award.
