President was invited to the Chinese and Indian University Presidents     Roundtable Conference

On May 26th, 2016, Chinese and Indian University Presidents Roundtable Conference with the spirit of "higher education research and innovation, casting excellence" was held in Peking University. Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India, Chinese Minister of Education Mr. Yuan Guiren attended the conference. Presidents of 20 colleges and universities from China and India including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai JiaoTong University, the Indian institute of technology (Delhi), the central Indian state of Gujarat University were invited to attend the conference. President Ma Jian attended the meeting on behalf of Chang’An University, and exchanged the Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement with Indian institute of technology (Delhi) under the witness of Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, President of the Republic of India and Chinese Minister of Education Mr. Yuan Guiren

Delegates started a discussion around two topics:  "Research: To build the world-class university and discipline" and "education: promoting innovation and entrepreneurship". President Ma Jian made a special speech around how to build a world-class university and disciplines. He pointed out that in the face of national first-class university and the first-class discipline construction strategy, Chang’An University will adhere to the connotation development, innovation development and characteristic development, integrate the advantage resources, in-depth implementation of outstanding talent cultivation, excellent plans to raise the scientific research and excellent talent team construction. The university will actively promote discipline construction, internationalization strategy, basic guarantee ability construction, the reform of internal governance and the key work, strive to promote the school core competitiveness and comprehensive strength, and speed up the construction of high-level university with distinct characteristics.

Before the conference, President Ma Jian had a meeting with President of Indian institute of technology (Delhi) Professor V. Ramgopal Rao. President Ma Jian briefly introduced the basic situation of Chang’an University; he hoped the cooperation agreements would promote the two schools in student exchange, scientific research, and the joint laboratory. Professor V. Ramgopal Rao agreed with President Ma Jianjian in the idea of long cooperation, he said the main purpose of his visit to China was to establish a comprehensive cooperative relations, communicate about the idea of cooperation, and discusse how to further implement the cooperation agreements between the two schools.

The forum of Chinese and Indian University Presidents is one of the Indian President Mr. Mukherjee's visit activities. After the first half of the conference, Chinese and Indian university Presidents, together with teachers and students from Peking University attended the Indian President Mr Mukherjee's lecture in Beijing University.

The Indian institute of technology (Delhi) (IITD) was founded in 1961; it is India's top engineering education and research institutions, ranking 179 in QS2015- 2016. The main subject areas of the IITD are computer science and engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, biological engineering and biotechnology, chemical engineering, management studies, physics, textile technology, etc. Information technique in IITD is well known in the world. Most of India's top IT talents graduated from the school.

The above international activities were accompanied by the personnel of the International Office of Chang’an University.
